This is Adalyn Hiatt, she is a 7 yr old girl who has been diagnosed with mitochondrial disease. It is a complex disorder caused by a cellular defect which impairs the body’s ability to generate energy necessary for proper organ function. Mitochondrial disease presents itself very differently from one individual to another.
The ways in which this disease is affecting Adalyn are bladder/bowel dysfunction, respiratory complications, immune system deficiencies, visual impairment, and muscle weakness/fatigue. Mitochondrial disease is unpredictable. Day to day, hour to hour patients can develop symptoms and their stability can be threatened. Being only 7yrs old, with no known cure and potential to get progressively worse, there are many unanswered questions. Adalyn needs constant care and love. All proceeds from the benefit go to the Answers for Adalyn Fund to help with the cost of ongoing tests, therapies, equipment, medical supplies and expenses. We believe with your generous hearts and God’s grace that we will find those needed answers.
