RIDE TO HONOR LOVED ONES
In the United States, a person dies by suicide every 12 minutes, claiming more than 44,000 lives each year in the US. It is estimated that an attempt is made every 28 seconds, with close to one million people attempting suicide annually. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. among adults 18-65, the second leading cause of death among teens and young adults, and individuals ages 65 and older account for 16 percent of all suicide deaths. This is a public health issue that does not discriminate by age, gender, ethnicity, or socio-economic status. We lose 22 veterans per day by suicide, approximately 4 times the number of soldiers that have died in active combat since 9/11. RIDE to save lives!
RIDE TO RAISE FUNDS
AFSP funds research aimed at improving our understanding of suicide and ways to prevent it as well as educational programs to increase awareness about prevention, warning signs and the psychiatric illnesses that can lead to suicide!
RIDE TO SAVE LIVES
Suicide is a national health problem that takes an enormous toll on family, friends, co-workers, and the entire community. AFSP provides opportunities for those lives that have been touched by mental illness and suicide to get involved through a wide variety of educational, outreach, awareness, advocacy and fundraising programs. RIDE to honor loved ones and support those who struggle daily!
Sunday, June 24 at Southside H.D.
