Sara’s Ride, Goin To The Dogs
July 11, 2015
This year’s “Goin’ to the Dogs” fundraising event will be on July 11, 2015, starting at Whit’s Inn, New Whiteland, Indiana, and ending at the Johnson Co. Eagles in Whiteland! The Johnson Co. Eagle Riders have continued to volunteer to support the ongoing needs of the Johnson County Animal Shelter.
Sara’s fund was established in 2009 after we lost my daughter, Sara Woods, in a tragic auto accident at the age of 17. She was an avid animal lover and put great effort into finding homes for animals that were frequently abandoned near her rural home. Sara’s beautiful smile, quick wit and big heart earned her the friendship and love of many who wanted to carry on her passion by helping homeless animals.
We have donated approximately $53,000 to date that has been used to purchase medical supplies and provide veterinary care to injured and sick animals. We work closely with the shelter’s director, Michael Delp, to improve the chances for adoption of every animal that ends up at the facility. We are proud to say that since we started supporting the Johnson County Animal Shelter in 2010, they haven’t euthanized any pets, with numerous animals being sent on to rescues! In addition, the fund has helped many pet owners provide care for their animals who may otherwise not been able to do so.
Festivities will kick off at Whit’s Inn, 1020 N. US 31, New
Whiteland, Indiana. Breakfast starts at 9:00 a.m., and
registration for the motorcycle ride starts at 10:00 a.m. Kickstands up at Noon. First stop will be at the Animal
Shelter. The ride will return to the Johnson County Eagles at approximately 5:00 p.m., that afternoon for a dinner, live music, raffles and lots of fun! Families welcome!
