Multi-District Litigation (MDLs) are what are commonly called “class action” suits by non-lawyers. Each year, hundreds or thousands of cases can be filed that are consolidated into these MDLs to save the resources of the courts and litigants. They are particularly prevalent with products liability and complicated toxic torts. Often times, these cases result in serious or deadly diseases contracted by the users because of mistakes made in the design or manufacturing process.
Most people are familiar with MDLs from the number of commercials saturating your TV. Whether you call us, a national advertising firm, or someone else, it’s important to know your rights if you or a loved one have been a victim of dangerously defective products.
While the full list of MDLs can be found HERE, we wanted to let you know about two recent MDLs that we are reviewing for clients.
FTX Cryptocurrency Exchange Collapse Litigation
With the rise in popularity of cryptocurrency, it has become a sector ripe for scams. If you’ve followed the news on crypto over the last couple of years you’re likely familiar with the collapse of the FTX crypto exchange and the actions of its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried. There are allegations that Bankman-Fried and others at FTX misappropriate investors’ assets and used those assets to fund their own lavish lifestyles. While litigation in this area is still very new, if you lost money in the FTX collapse, it may be worth looking into further.
There are currently 15 active FTX lawsuits nationwide.
Tepezza Marketing, Sales Practices, and Products Liability Litigation
Tepezza is an FDA approved drug for thyroid eye disease. It became available in the United States in 2020. Unfortunately, some Tepezza users have reported hearing loss and tinnitus that they associate with taking Tepezza. If you’ve taken this drug and have suffered hearing loss or tinnitus, it may be in your best interest to research it further and/or contact an attorney to discuss your rights.
There are currently 42 Tepezza lawsuits nationwide.
We’ll be back soon when we see other new MDLs you should be made aware of. As always, feel free to call us or another attorney if you have any questions. Until then, stay safe out there.
