Riding For Hayden
July 17, 2016 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm$20
We are riding to raise awareness to Guillain-Barre Syndrome and to raise funds to help out the family of Hayden Huett while he goes through the recovery process after being inflicted with Guillain-Barre Syndrome.
Hayden was a normal, active, 8 year old boy that lives with his mom, twin sister and younger brother. On Dec. 11th , 2015. Hayden suffered a severe asthma attack that hospitalized him for two days of treatment. Prior to his release, Hayden was given a flu shot. Over the next couple weeks, Hayden was tired and complained of leg pain, this was diagnosed as “growing pains” by his doctors. On Christmas morning, when Melissa woke the kids to open presents, Hayden was in severe pain and could not sit up on his own. He was taken to Riley, where they determined he had Guillain-Barre Syndrome and they started treatment. He remained at Riley until January 19th.
Hayden is now in therapy three times a week, he has to wear leg braces to help his balance as he learns how to walk again. Melissa cut her hours at work to be able to take her son to all his appointments, this eventually resulted in the termination of her position. This is where we come in! We will ride to help Melissa & her family with everyday expenses and medical bills while she continues to help Hayden in his fight for recovery.
